The Auburn Police Department welcomes the opportunity to work with today’s youth, particularly underprivileged children who may not have the same opportunities as others their age. Shop with a Cop is one of the ways we reach out to these children and their families.
Through Shop with a Cop, children in need (who reside in Auburn) are able to purchase gifts for Christmas and needed items for themselves (such as coats, hats, gloves, boots, or other winter items).
The Auburn Police Department strives to make the event an engaging and exciting one. An Auburn Police Department representative picks up children and takes them to Walmart to shop. Afterward, children are treated to a meal at a local restaurant. At the end of the excursion, the children are returned safely to their homes.
